Nottingham firm The Multiplayer Guys has announced two new senior hires: senior software engineers Anis Refoufi and Chris Applegarth. The new appointments are the latest in a number of additions that have seen the company purportedly increase its headcount six-fold since January 2019.
Refoufi joins The Multiplayer Guys after having recently worked on Sony’s PSVR title Blood & Truth and will be joining the team to work on “an incredibly high-profile next-generation project for console and PC”. Applegarth, on the other hand, brings “extensive experience in programming elements for a flight simulation franchise” and will be working across a range of platforms, “utilising his skills in the areas of new online service features, performance and stability on one of the largest live multiplayer games”.
The specialist outsource company has seen a 475 per cent growth since the start of the year, with other appointments including software engineers Alejandro Aguilar, Daniel Novillo, Amerigo Moscaroli, and Tom Avison, all of whom “are putting their significant experience into another major international client’s core tech team”.
“We’re in a very exciting period of growth at The Multiplayer Guys. The work we do is niche yet spans across platforms, formats, genres and titles, allowing us to offer a range of career opportunities within the team,” said chief operating officer, Steve Bennett. “Since January we’ve grown a staggering 475 per cent and, with the momentum we’re experiencing at the moment, that’s only set to increase.” He continued: “In the search for the best talent around we’re cultivating and developing our culture, as well as our teams so they have everything they need to perform to the best of their abilities and beyond.”
The Multiplayer Guys – formed by Rik Alexander and Steve Bennett – have been making multiplayer games for a combined total of over 100 years, with an average of 10 years for each team member. The company describe itself as being involved in “definitive best practices on console, MMOs, console-first multiplayer records, full-physics based multiplayer, [and] many high profile console racing games”.
