Now Microsoft claims 360 will not support Blu-Ray

In the latest instalment of this confusing saga, Xbox 360 group product manager Aaron Greenberg has now said that there are no plans for Xbox 360 to support Blu-Ray.

The news comes not long after Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer claimed that the company was indeed in discussions with Sony concerning Blu-Ray support.

However, speaking to Reuters Greenberg stated: "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-Ray Association to integrate Blu-Ray into the Xbox experience."

Whilst some outlets are claiming this to be an about turn from Microsoft, another explanation is that whilst Windows Blu-Ray support is a possibility, Xbox 360 support may not be. After all, Microsoft does have the tiny matter of the global PC software market to consider.
