Nvidia recalls Shield Tablet over battery fire hazard worry

Owners of Nvidia’s Shield Tablet have been told that their device must be replaced owing to a safety fault.

The company says it has determined that the battery in these tablets can overheat, posing a fire hazard”. As a result, owners are being urged to visit this website to determine if their model is affected.

Tablets whose battery model (which can be found in settings > about tablet > status) reads B01 are safe. However, models with a Y01 battery will need to replaced.

Nvidia is also asking consumers to stop using the recalled tablet, except as needed to participate in the recall and back up data,” the company added. Consumers will receive a replacement tablet after registering to participate in the recall.”
