Nvidia’s Shield gets new release date

Android and PC streaming gaming handheld Shield has been given a new release date by Nvidia.

The $300 device will now launch on July 31st.

We want to thank you for your patience and for sticking with us through the shipment delay of your Shield,” a statement read. Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted Shield to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry.

We built Shield because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”

Shield was delayed just hours before its planned launch at the end of last month after what Nvidia described as a mechanical issue that we’re not happy with” which related in some way to a third party mechanical component”.

Nvidia dropped the price of the unit from $350 to $300 just a week earlier.
