NXE boosts Xbox Live sales

Microsoft’s Major Nelson has revealed the NXE has provided a significant boost to Xbox Live Arcade sales.

Posting on his blog, the Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb revealed several statistics from the aftermath of the New Xbox Experience’s launch.

In the first week following the redesigned interface’s debut, Xbox Live Arcade sales almost tripled. Among these sales, the avatar-specific game A Kingdom for Keflings achieved the second best first week of performance in the online service’s history.

UNO, an Arcade title recently modified to incorporate the NXE avatars, saw a 650 per cent increase in sales in just one day. Even movie and TV downloads increased, up by 30 per cent over the course of the week.

The community has also been bolstered, with the average number of new friends added per Xbox Live member since the NXE launch rising by 33 per cent.
