Oculus VR acquires Surreal Vision

Oculus VR has announced its acquisition of Surreal Vision – a tech startup that specializes in genereating real-time, 3D worlds.

A new post on the virtual reality firm’s website states Surreal Vision is one of the top computer vision teams in the world.

According to Oculus, the company’s tech generates great scene reconstruction.” Something that will enable a new level of presence and telepresence [by allowing Oculus Rift users to] move around the real world and interact with real-world objects.”

The Rift headset is scheduled for a consumer release in early 2016. In other company news, Oculus announced it will be holding its second Oculus Connect developer conference this September.
