Old Republic gets first live demo

GAMESCOM: Attendees at Gamescom 2011 were treated to the first live gameplay demo of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

A team of eight players were hooked up online and took part in a large player-versus-environment mission in EA’s upcoming PC MMORPG. The first big operation in the game was showcased – The Eternity Vault.

Gameplay was comparative to that of World of Warcraft, with the players able to combine attacks and work strategically to take down larger foes.

Beta test weekends for The Old Republic will launch in the coming months. The game has already broken pre-order records for EA.
