Online key to Asda’s plans

Watch out Play and Amazon – Asda wants a slice of your market share.

The retail giant told MCV that improving its online offer is key to its plans for 2011.

This ties in with Asda’s bid to grow its games market share, which the firm says is already in double digits.

Rolling out trade-in and pre-owned games has taken a huge amount of planning and effort, and we are backing this up by offering compelling offers on new games,” said Asda’s head of games Andrew Thompson.

One area that you will also see a major focus on next year is online. We will be improving our solution and proposition for music, video and games online to enable us to compete with the likes of Amazon, Play and HMV.

We are now a double digit market share player, and we aspire to continue to grow this throughout 2011.”
