Origen AD carry Erik ‘Tabzz’ Van Helvert leaves team, leaving just 3 on the roster

Origen’s roster has taken another hit, as their second player in a week has left the team, leaving them with just three players.

Origen was relegated from the European League of Legends Championship Series after the Spring Split. Six days ago, Origen’s top laner Max Günther, known by handle Satorius, left the roster. Now, Erik Van Helvert, known as AD carry Tabzz, has left the roster.

Van Helvert used to be considered one of the best players in the world as he went into the 2014 League World Championship with esports outfit Alliance. Despite qualifying after a perfect season, the team didn’t make it past the group stage to Brazilian wildcard team KaBum.

The match is still considered one of the biggest upsets in competitive League of Legends. He’s since struggled to live up to his performance in that 2014 qualifying season.

Origen have struggled with form recently, too. They were considered one of the best teams in the EU LCS in 2015, but have struggled to make an impact in the last two splits, struggling to avoid relegation. In the 2017 spring split, Origen failed to land a single win, which makes Origen’s performance the worst ever seen in the league’s history.

It’s not yet clear whether Origen will be looking to rebuild its roster and compete in the European Challenger Series, or if the esports organisation will sell their slot in the league.
