Ouya holding closed beta to test external storage support

Ouya has kicked off a closed beta period to test external storage device support for the $99 Android-based microconsole.

A post on thecompany’s official websitedetails the latest update for the hardware and explains the thinking behind running the external storage closed beta.

"It’s a big feature and there are a ton of different types of external storage out there, so we felt it was best to roll it out in stages," the company states.

"The staged rollout allows us to easily gather feedback and achieve the best possible product in the end … If this beta is successful, it can pave the way for us to try and introduce more features earlier in their lifecycle."

The first round of invites are set to be sent out this week, but those interested in participating still can sign-up through Ouya’s website.

The console launched earlier this year and currently boasts over 470 games to try and/or buy.
