Pac-Man 256 reaches 5m downloads

Mobile title Pac-Man 256 has been downloaded over five million times.

That’s according to publisher Bandai Namco, who has also revealed that it is the most-downloaded game in 98 countries in all categories, while in 104 regions for games sections.

The firm has also announced that Pac-Man will be coming to developer Hipster Whale’s previous title Crossy Road.

The mobile game launched on August 19th, and its name is a reference to the infamous 256 glitch encountered in the original game.

In a statement Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, Bandai Namco Studios Vancouver and developer Hipster Whale said: We are veryhappy to see such a fantastic start, the game is the top downloaded game in 98 countries for all categories and in 104 countries for game categories including USA, UK and Japan.

We want to thank all the individuals involved in this project and above all: our players.”
