Pac-Man movie on the way

Everyone’s favourite little muncher Pac-Man is coming to the big screen in a new movie role – from a company that’s just received a whopping $200m financial boost.

According to Variety, Steven Paul’s banner Crystal Sky Pictures has inked a $200 million theatrical slate financing deal with Don Starr’s Grosvenor Park.

The deal covers five films, including an adaptation of Konami’s Castlevania. A co-production with Universal’s Rogue Pictures, the film has been written by Paul Anderson (Resident Evil) and directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard).

Other titles being made with the cash injection include a sequel to John Woo’s Hard Boiled – the movie which spawned Midway’s Stranglehold – and, amazingly, a cinema outing for Pac-Man.

"This financing is helping us in our expansion plans to greenlight films more quickly," said Paul. "We’re now one of the few companies to have a big budget with which to develop our slate."

Crystal Sky previously produced Bratz, based on the toy franchise, with Lionsgate, and Ghost Rider with Columbia Pictures – which became a game published by 2K.
