PC Zone to be closed

UPDATE: Hogarty has contacted MCV to inform us that he is no longer editor at PC Zone, having taken up a position at Gamereactor.eu last week. He adds that the September issue of PC Zone will be the last.

ORIGINAL STORY:
A report on PC games site Rock Paper Shotgun – that has since been backed up by a number of sources online – claims that Future Publishing is calling time on specialist games mag PC Zone.

The next issue will reportedly be the last. It is currently edited by Steve Hogarty. Former editors include Jamie Sefton, Will Porter and Ali Wood.

When PC Zone arrived in 1993 it was the first magazine dedicated specifically to PC gaming and inspired a whole generation of writers and coders to pursue their careers in the industry.

The closure follows Imagine’s decision to scrap Total PC Gaming in March of this year.
