AusCon kicks off tonight with Mana Bar launch party

This weekend, Brisbane will play host to the second year of AusCon, a convention for videogamers, wargamers and cosplayers.

The event will play host to dozens of board game and table top gaming competitions, as well as a selection of videogames which will appeal to the predominantly anime and pop-culture enthusiast crowd.

Dead Island and Left 4 Dead will have multiplayer sessions set up, as well as competitive Street Fighter 4 and a thematically appropriate showing of the newly released Warhammer 40k Space Marine and it’s downloadable counterpart: Kill Team.

Mark Edwards, event manager for AusCon, told MCV: "AusCon is all about the gamer, the cosplayer and the nerd in all of us. Two days of more fun and games than you can fit in! Come for the games, stay for the zombies!"

AusCon’s lanch party takes place from 5pm to midnight today at the Brisbane Mana Bar. The convention itself runs from 1st-2nd October at the RNA Showgrounds. Tickets can be purchased here.
