GDC 09: PhysX 'dramatically raising the bar' for games makers

BigWorld 2.0 engine to incorporate Nvidia technology

Nvidia’s PhysX is to be Integrated into the forthcoming version of BigWorld’s MMO development solution BigWorld Technology 2.0.

The BigWorld MMO Technology suite offers a complete technology solution, consisting of an integrated set of server applications, tools, advanced 3D client and APIs designed specifically for the creation of virtual worlds and MMOs.

“Nvidia PhysX technology is the preeminent physics solution available today, and it makes perfect sense to integrate this functionality directly into BigWorld Technology 2.0,” said Gavin Longhurst, vice president of BigWorld. “This potent pairing ensures developers will have at their disposal the latest software and tools that will allow them to enhance online social interaction and develop virtual worlds complete with dynamic, realistic, and interactive environments.”

“The pairing of Nvidia PhysX technology with the BigWorld Technology 2.0 development suite will assist in the creation of truly unique online gaming environments and virtual worlds,” added Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of content and technology at Nvidia. “Today’s announcement is further evidence of the continued momentum for Nvidia PhysX technology, which we know is dramatically raising the bar for the level of realism and interactivity in upcoming games.”
