Buzz dev signs with IPTV service

UK developer Relentless Software is the latest studio to partner with TV games specialists PlayJam.

The team behind the popular Buzz! quiz series will be able to develop social games for PlayJam’s aggregated games portal, which launches on Samsung and LG Smart TVs later this month.

The portal will focus on casual titles, and will feature cross-network tournaments, leaderboards, multiplayer, microtransactions and more. It will also off other entertainment services such as Netflix, Roxio Cinema Now, Pandora and Vudu.

Relentless has always made games for everyone and we are very excited about the opportunity to engage with a larger audience via smart and connected TVs,” said the studio’s chief executive director Andrew Eades.

PlayJam’s 12 years of experience in delivering games for TV makes it the ideal partner to work with when looking to exploit the tens of millions of connected TVs already in the marketplace. With smart TV take-up projected to run into hundreds of millions of devices by 2014, we are confident that this platform will play a key part in the success of future Relentless titles.”
