Crytek announces Warface

Crysis developer Crytek has announced its next title – PC shooter Warface.

Yes, Warface.

Set in the near future, the game will offer both player-vs-player gameplay as well as cooperative online multiplayer. It’s a PC-only title and will adopt the increasingly popular free-to-play model. The developers will monetise it through the sale of in-game digital goods such as weapons and upgrades.

The game is in development at Crytek’s Korean studio and is, currently at least, only scheduled for release in the Korean and unspecified Asian markets.

It’s being built using CryENGINE 3, which is also the tech powering upcoming console and PC release Crysis 2.

No release date has yet been confirmed.
