Dark Souls GFWL migration delayed until December

Bandai Namco’s Dark Souls will ditch Games for Windows Live a little later than initially planned.

The swap from GFWL to Steam was scheduled to take place this month but will now occur in December.

We are working hard to finalize the process to move your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die saves and achievements to Steam,” an update confirmed. We need to conduct additional testing and we are now targeting December to begin this process. We’ll have more information in the coming weeks. Thank you very much for your patience.”

Owners will be able to carry over achievements and, most crucially, save games once the game is shifted to Steam’s servers. To switch gamers will simply have to input their GFWL code into Steam and re-download the game.

Right from the offgamers voiced concernsabout the decision to ship the game with GFWL support but after a bit ofummming and ahhhingBandai Namco pressed ahead with the plan regardless.

The publisher has beenpondering such a switchsince earlier this year.
