Mike Schroepfer promoted to role left vacant after Bret Taylor's departure last year

Facebook appoints new CTO

Social networking giant Facebook has appointed Mike Schroepfer as its new chief technology officer.

Schroepfer has taken the position left vacant by the company’s former CTO Bret Taylor, who left the firm last year.

The new CTO has worked at Facebook for nearly five years, previously holding the role of VP of engineering.

“Mike Schroepfer’s new designation as Facebook’s CTO reflects the unique and important role he plays across the company,” a Facebook spokesperson told AllThingsD.

As well as working at Facebook, Schroepfer has previously worked at Mozilla as VP of Engineering, and is also a member of the board of trustees for the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology.
