Garry’s Mod surpasses 6m units sold

Facepunch Studios’ open-ended sandbox physics game Garry’s Mod has sold more than 6m copies on Steam to date.

What’s more impressive, the 2004 release garnered 3m – or 50 per cent – of that figure in the past year alone.

Creator Garry Newman posted the news on his Twitter account; where he also shared that the Mac version has moved 336,765 units, while the Linux version has sold 28,322 copies.

That means the Windows PC version has sold more than 5.6m copies, around 93 per cent of total sales – though it should be noted the game came out on Microsoft’s OS years ahead of the other two platforms.

Sales of Facepunch’s other release Rust still trails Garry’s Mod by a wide margin, but the Steam Early Access title is currently on pace to catch and pass the title in the next year or two.
