Google’s upcoming tablet exposed

The lucrative tablet PC market will welcome another high-profile competitor later this week – Google.

DigiTimes reports that the seven-inch Nexus 7 will be revealed at the Google I/O Conference that begins this Wednesday.

In addition, Gizmodo Australia claims to have obtained a set of detailed specs for the device.

It says that the Asus-built tablet will house a 1.3Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, a 12-core GeForce GPU and 1GB of RAM. 8GB ($200) and 16GB ($250) variants will be made available.

The screen will have a resolution of 1280×800 while a 1.2 megapixel camera will adorn the front. It is said to run Android 4.1

The Nexus will square off against Amazon’s Kindle Fire, Microsoft’s upcoming Surface and, of course, Apple’s mighty iPad.
