Heroes of the Storm has a release date

Blizzard has finally announced a release date for MOBA title Heroes of the Storm.

The free-to-play game will receive a full release on June 2nd. It has been in closed beta for some time, and will make the jump to open beta on May 20th.

It will launch with over 30 playable characters and seven arenas, as well as a host of customisation options, all of which are based on Blizzard’s assorted properties and IPs. It will have a PEGI 12 rating at launch.

There’s will be an event held in London on June 1st to celebrate the launch, which will be streamed live online.

With its focus on team play and fast-paced fun, Heroes of the Storm is a fresh take on a very popular genre,” Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime said. We’ve built Heroes of the Storm in a way that makes it accessible to new players, but also challenging enough for veterans who really want to put their skills to the test.

We can’t wait to see what Heroes brings to the co-op and competitive scenes once the Nexus opens up to everyone.”
