Kinect sells 18m, arrives on PC next month

At CES in Las Vegas, Steve Ballmer’s keynote speech finally revealed a concrete global sales number for Kinect – 18m units.

After shifting an impressive 8m units in its first few weeks on the market, the device went on to sell just a further 2m in the months up until October. These new numbers suggest it had a very successful Christmas.

Ballmer also announced that Kinect would be coming to PC on 1st February.

Last November, the SDK beta for Kinect was updated toinclude Windows support, so in spite of being Microsoft’s largest announcement at CES this year it hardly came as much of a surprise.
