Lizard Squad member pleads guilty to 23 charges

A 17-year-old member of hacker group Lizard Squad has pleaded guilty to 23 charges, including swatting.

This is as reported by local Canadian news publication Tri-city News – and spotted by Ars Technica. The teenager can’t be identified because of his age, but has admitted to crimes including extortion, public mischief and criminal harassment. He goes by the online aliases ‘obnoxious’ and ‘internetjesusob’.

According to Tri-city News, the teen as in the habit of shutting down other League of Legends’ internet access, posting personal info online, calling them late at night and contacting their local police department claiming he was holding a family hostage, had napalm bombs or had killed someone.

He’d then demand a ransom, and order a SWAT team. These attacks occured in both American and Canada.

He has been charged with 40 crimes, and is being held for a further 167 days.

Lizard Squad was the group of hackers responsible for the DDOS attacks on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live over the Christmas period.
