Minecraft launches on Raspberry Pi

Mojang has brought Minecraft to a new platform, announcing the game’s arrival for Raspberry Pi computers.

Minecraft: Pi Edition can be picked up now by device owners as a free download straight from the developer. The launch build is far from feature complete, but content updates are expected to arrive in the coming months.

The version is built specifically for the Raspberry Pi, brings a revised feature set, and support for multiple programming languages. The studio hopes it encourages people interested in programming to take the leap.

After an incredible 2012, Mojang expects to spread the Minecraft phenomenon even further this year, as it looks to expand the game’s availability on various platforms and territories alike.
