Smite arrives on Steam

Free-to-play eSports hit Smite is now available through Valve’s Steam service.

The Steam version of Hi-Rez’s third person MOBA, which is also available on Xbox One, is no different to the SKU that has for a while already been available on PC bar for the added potential of tapping into Steam’s huge userbase.

Not that numbers have been much of an issue for the game thus far – currently it has around 125m active users.

The Steam version will share the same servers as the existing PC release. Current players who want to make the jump will be able to log into the new download with their existing download and continue from where they left off.

The time is right for Smiteon Steam,” the developer’s co-founder and COO Todd Harris said. The platform has evolved to include more quality free-to-play titles and, most importantly, better ways for users to discover them.”
