Square Enix: Deus Ex will last us a decade

Square Enix aims to leverage its Deus Ex franchise for the next ten years – as part of its grand plan to be a top three publisher in the next five years.

"We have dozens of IPs, some of which we wish to build into franchises," Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada told MCV, as part of a world-first interview with the publisher’s three CEOs.

"Deus Ex 3 is something we’re trying to revive,” Wada added. We want to keep on producing profit from that IP for the next ten years."

And despite previous claims that Square Enix will re-examine its Final Fantasy series, Wada insisted the Group was firmly behind its flagship franchise.

"Final Fantasy has always been a bread-earner for us. It has always been profitable,” he said.

Of course, we would like to be expanding on those two key IPs [Final Fantasy and Deus Ex), and others that are very strong to us.

"We would like Final Fantasy to continue as long as there are the customers who support Final Fantasy."
