Steam breaks 8m concurrent users barrier

The latest Steam Sale has helped Valve’s digital games service hit a brand new milestone.

As spotted by NeoGaf, on Sunday evening there were over 8m concurrent users of the service. Specifically, as of midnight UK time there were 8,020,428 people on the service.

That beats the 7m+ record set back in December.

The peak usage coincided with the conclusion of the ever-popular Steam Summer Sale, which at that time was offering a number of ‘Encore’ deals, comprising a repeat of the most popular offers from the last week.
