Steam climbs over 6m concurrent users, sets new record for service

Valve’s PC digital games and software service Steam saw a record setting number of users this past weekend.

Steam boasted over 6m users signed in concurrently during its autumn sale event–a new high water mark for the platform.

The figure bests Steam’s previous record of over 5m concurrent users during its 2011 holiday sale. The service now has over 50m registered users, with 10m added just this year.

Valve has several budding projects for its digital download hub at the moment including a software line, Steam for Linux, and Steam Greenlight.
