Steve Aoki buys Rogue

After performing at TwitchCon Steve Aoki announced that he has purchased eSports organisation Rogue.

Aoki has purchased a controlling share of the organisation, and plans to be a hands on owner, with the press release stating: Steve [will] play a supportive role in the Overwatch team’s continued success, as well as helping the organization to develop its newly acquired CS:GO team.”

Rogue is a relatively young organisation, having formed earlier this year around its Overwatch team. Considered to be one of the top European teams in the Overwatch scene Rogue has seen a lot of success, even winning The Atlantic Showdown at Gamescom and placing third this week at The Overwatch Open.

In August the organisation picked up a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team but has failed to find any real success so far.

Aoki is of course best known as a world famous electro house musician, although he has flirted with the eSports world before. In April he took part in a Street Fighter V exhibition match at PAX and is a regular streamer on Twitch.

"Our organization was expanding to the point where we wanted to bring on another partner,” said Rogue CEO Franklin Villarreal. We couldn’t be happier that we met Steve when we did. His genuine passion for the eSports scene was exactly what we were looking for."
