Developer shrugs off speculation that it is about to be bought by web giant

Valve on Google ‘acquisition’: “100% rumour”

Valve’s Doug Lombardi has described today’s rumourmongering that the studio is to be bought by Google as "100% rumour".

In speaking to Spong, the marketing boss’ description of the story is the first comment made by the studio.

Google too has described the story as "rumour and speculation", although clearly both have yet to flat-out deny the story.

Valve is best known for its Half-Life series of games and the Steam games digital delivery system, which according to the original report is what web giant Google would be interested in
owning.
