Vulcun cancels its one month old Hearthstone league

eSports tournament Vulcun Deckmasters has been cancelled, despite only launching last month.

Gosugamers reports that Vulcun launched the competition with the promise of a $100k prize pool over two seasons. However, time will be called on the whole thing once it draws to a conclusion tomorrow (Friday July 17th) after the final showdown between Jeffrey ‘Trump’ Shih and Gareth ‘Cipher’ Rouse.

We’ve decided to cancel Season 2 of Deckmasters,” Vulcun said. This wasn’t an easy decision, but overarching issues regarding Hearthstone have put us in a position where Season 2 of the event is not feasible.”

The nature of these overarching issues” was not elaborated on.

Vulcun had been criticised for failing to adequately promote the event, while the broadcasts to date have been dogged by production issues, including a dispute about silent rule changes.
