Intel Developer Blog: Softtalkblog looks at the new open-source electronics prototyping platform

Welcome to the Intel Galileo Development Board

Intel is launching a family of Arduino-compatible development boards featuring Intel architecture, and the Intel® Galileo development board is the first of the bunch! Measuring just 4.2 inches long by 2.8 inches wide, it is easy to use for beginners, as well as more experienced designers looking to take their craft to the next level.

To give you a quick recap, Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software. Through electronic sensors, lights, actuators and motors you are able to create some truly innovative projects that can interact with the environment around them. Arduino is used by makers from all walks of life, from artists to designers and electronics hobbyists. You can either use the Arduino stand-alone or connect it to software running on a computer to further open up the possibilities.

There’s good news for MeshCentral users as well. The remote monitoring and management web site now supports remote management of the Intel Galileo boards. Feeling inspired? Get ideas for projects in the Project Gallery. To get into the real nitty gritty, you can watch a video on the Galileo board hardware, and for a personal overview of Galileo for beginners, take a look at this blog post by Intel expert Sulamita Garcia.

UK customers can purchase the Intel Galileo development board at Mouser and RS.

I’m keen to hear about everyone’s experiences, so visit the Intel Developer Zone and comment on the forums, articles and blog posts.
