Wings Gaming win $9.1 million at The International 6

Chinese team Wings Gaming managed to win The International 6 after beating Digital Chaos 3-1 in the final.

The win sees the young side walk away with $9,139,002 and of course the title of the best Dota 2 team in the world. Second place Digital Chaos took home $3,427,126, while last year’s winners Evil Geniuses took home $2,180,898 for finishing third.

Digital Chaos beat EG earlier in the day to secure their place in the final, but couldn’t match up to Wings. Wings took a risk in game one picking up a Pudge, and ended up losing, but a return to more standard drafts for the next three games saw them crowned as champions. Throughout the entire main event Wings never lost a series, and only dropped two games, both of which were against Digital Chaos.

Wings were a potential favourite for the event coming into TI, thanks to wins at ESL One Manila and The Summit 5. Digital Chaos on the other hand were outsiders for the event, after forming in just a couple of days after the Shanghai Major.

With The International now completed the Dota world will take a few weeks off, as players have a much needed rest and most likely look for new teams. As it stands no teams have officially disbanded, but expect that to change in the coming days.
