PES’s Euro 2016 DLC lacks some licensed teams

Konami’s upcoming Euro 2016 DLC for PES 2016 will not feature a full licensed roster of teams.

24 teams feature in the tournament, but only 15 of them will be officially licensed in the expansion. Missing out are Ireland, Russia, Switzerland, Romania, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

The licensed teams will include authentic strips. Konami says the unlicensed teams will be in line” with their real-world counterparts, with all players and teams tuned with the Player ID and Team ID systems, and featuring authentic faces.

The PES 2016 DLC expansion will be released on March 24th, and is free to current owners of the game. A standalone Euro 2016 version of the game will be released physically and digitally on April 21st. The physical SKU will also include the main PES 2016 game.

As well as the PES expansion, which will be free, there will also be a Euro 2016-themed version of PES 2016 released on PS4 and PS3, both physically and digitally, on April 21st. PES 2016’s Euro 2016 DLC will be released on March 24th. Euro 2016 itself kicks off on June 10th.

All eyes will be on France as Europe’s most prestigious international competition gets underway in June, and we are delighted to present the official game of the UEFA EURO 2016 tournament,” Konami’s European brand director of football Erik Bladinieres said. With such a high standard of football on show, only the PES series could truly recreate it in all its glory.

Our team is committed to building a game that matches the pace, skill and excitement of the competition, and introducing its depth and entertaining gameplay to a new wave of fans. Our existing PES fans are the most enthusiastic and committed of any football title, and we are delighted to be giving them the UEFA EURO 2016 content absolutely free, while our accompanying online and myClub promotions will ensure this will be a summer of football to remember.”

Konami has also said it will be bringing Euro 2016 content to PES Club Manager and PES Collection on iOS.
