PewDiePie among YouTube’s first subscription stars

YouTube Red has already enlisted the services of one of the biggest video stars on the planet – PewDiePie.

His show is called Scare PewDiePie and, as the name suggests, sees the excitable Swede endure a series of unpleasant and scary situations. The idea is that Kjellberg won’t know what’s in store for him ahead of filming.

The series is being produced by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Scare PewDiePie will be locked behind YouTube’s new subscription paywall, YouTube Red, which launches in the US on October 28th priced at $9.99 per month.

PewDiePie’s production company made over $7.45 in 2014.PewDiePie was the singlemost watched person on YouTube in 2014, attracting 4.1bn views and growing to 33.5 subscribers (he’s added a further 4m in the first half of 2015, too). In March he was featured in Time’s ‘The 30 Most Influential People on the Internet’list.
