Pokémon World Championship boasts $2m prize pool

The Pokmon Company has announced that its 2015 Pokmon World Championships will offer $2m in prizes.

Organizers have detailed locations and dates for the US Pokmon Winter Regional Championship tournaments. The US regional tourneys take place later this month at the following locations:

• St. Louis, MO: February 14–15 – St. Charles Convention Center
• Portland, OR: February 14–15 – DoubleTree by Hilton
• Doswell, VA: February 14–15 – Exhibition Hall at the Meadow Event Park
• Lancaster, CA: February 14–15 – Pioneer Event Center
• Kissimmee, FL: February 28 – March 1 – Park Inn by Radisson Resort & Conference Center

Regional winners will compete in the US National Championships for a chance to play in the Pokmon World Championships, while qualifying events will be held in more than 40 other countries within the same time-frame.

All this leads up to the World Championships, which takes place August 21st-23rd in Boston, where Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire and Trading Card Game players will compete for the $2m prize pool.
