Project CARS 2 eyes September release

The sequel to crowdfunded racing title Project CARS is aiming for a September launch.

That’s according to a post on Project CARS 2’s forum by developer Slightly Mad Studio’s CEO Ian Bell, in which he says that the current guess for a release date is ‘Septemberish’.

However, the exec is keen to point out that nothing is certain yet, and says that the studio is ‘a bit behind’ on the Career mode and game’s graphical user interface.

Project CARS 2 was announced in June 2015, with crowdfunding opening for the title at that point via Slightly Mad’s World of Mass Development portal.

The first title in this series launched in May 2015 following three delays. When the title hit shelves it was the first racing sim to claim the No1. spot since 2013. Furthermore, when it retained the top spot, it was publisher Bandai Namco’s first consecutive No.1 in 16 years.

Last year, a Game of the Year version of the title hit shelves, including the original release and all its DLC.
