7sixty goes digital with SouthPeak

SouthPeak Interactive has teamed up with a new publishing label to drive its digital business forward.

Publisher 7sixty has been established today which will focus on downloadable and boxed console, PC, smartphone and tablet games. It is based in Texas but has also opened an office in the UK in Leicester.

The move sees SouthPeak drop publishing duties and instead distribute all 7sixty-published games going forwards.

Attitudes to games are changing as gaming becomes part of today’s entertainment lifestyle,” said 7sixty VP of interactive entertainment Jeff Hutchinson. We want to ensure we move with the times so we’re meeting the needs of the consumer by offering excellent digital content as well as boxed product.”

The first game released under the 7sixty umbrella will be Stronghold 3 on PC which is due this autumn. It’s the latest in the 5m-selling strategy series.

We feel Stronghold 3 is the perfect example of our new publishing spirit,” added Hutchinson. It will have an incredibly strong presence on the shop shelf, alongside partnerships with leading digital distributors and plenty of high quality downloadable content.”

7sixty says it wants to work with independent developers and is close to signing several other games this year. The publisher will release games globally.

A new website has launched at www.7sixty.com and a Twitter page will be going live shortly at @7sixtygames.
