Activision reveals social games platform Activate

Activision Blizzard has unveiled Activate, a new social gaming platform for mobile devices.

Inside Mobile Apps reports the platform will offer cloud storage allowing customers access to their games from multiple devices, and supports multiplayer titles as well.

Users can log into mobile games using a Facebook ID or set-up their own Activate account, and newly announced Skylanders iOS games Battlegrounds and Lost Islands will headline the new service.

The new service puts the publisher giant in direct competition with Gree and DeNA for smartphones and tablets.

The new Skylanders titles are slated for November, thougha release date for Activate itself has yet to be announced.
