Activision working on Dance Hero

Guitar Hero and DJ Hero may currently be rocking on with the big drummer in the sky, but fresh rumours have emerged about a further lifeline for the ‘Hero’ brand.

Kotaku claims to have word from an unspecified source that Activision is currently working on Dance Hero which, as the name clearly suggests, would ditch the traditional rhythm action format of previous entries in favour of motion-controlled dancing.

The site even names four of the tracks that will feature – "2012" by Jay Sean, "Out Of Space" by The Prodigy, "The Way I Are" by Timbaland and "Take Over Control" by Afrojack.

A possible move to dance gaming would not be a surprise. Despite the widely held belief that the music genre is in decline, GfK Chart-Track numbers show that 2010 was the genre’s most successful year ever thanks to the strength of emerging dance brands such as Just Dance and Dance Central.

And earlier this month developer Harmonix confirmed that Dance Central has proved more lucrative for the company than Rock Band 3.
