Another open-world zombie game is hungry for gamer’s brains

Yet another open-world zombie title is on the way.

It’s called State of Decay and it’s being made by Undead Labs. It was previously announced in 2011 as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive going by the name of Class 3.

Its makers describe it as an ambitious zombie-survival open world game” that will let you put your personal survival plan to the test”.

However, where it differs from its rivals is in how it approaches the genre. Forget hiding in bushes or crafting weapons. In State of Decay you can move through the world like a zombie-slaying badass.”

The studio adds: Dive through windows, jump on cars, and take it to the living dead with baseball bats. Hop in a truck and mow down some undead pedestrians. Break into the local police station and clear out their arsenal or walk into the local grocery store to stock up on your favourite junk food. The world is your oyster…a shiny oyster that happens to be filled with zombies.”

Also promised an open world that changes and develops according to the decisions of the player.

A trailer for the game can be seen below.

State of Decay joins the likes of The War Z in trying to emulate the tremendous success of Day Z – which itself is getting a standalone release.
