Barcelona dev Winko Games raises $1.4m

Barcelona-based mobile developer Winko Games has raised $1.4m in a seed investment round.

The new studio was founded by CEO Jean-Laurent Wotton, previously chief revenue officer at Social Point, and COO Sergio Moreno, who also worked at Social Point as head of marketing. The funding round was led by London Venture Partners, Initial Capital, and Kibo Ventures.

Winko’s first game is described as a futuristic RPG and strategy title, currently slated for release in Q4 2015.

“Even though mobile revenue will soon surpass all other segments in gaming, most core gamers are still playing on consoles and PCs,” said CEO Jean-Laurent Wotton.

“We want to provide those players with strategy games that bring a deeper overall experience.”
