Bethesda ships 7m copies of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Over 7m copies of console and PC adventure game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have been shipped by Bethesda.

The publisher estimates an approximate return of $450m on the numbers.

More than 50 per cent of the game’s launch units were sold in its first 48 hours on sale following its worldwide release on Friday November 11th.

There has been digital success too, with Valve confirming that Skyrim set a new record for concurrent players – 280k players.

We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim,” chairman and CEO of Bethesda owner ZeniMax Media Robert Altman stated.

Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”
