UK broadcaster calms fears following closure of 4iP â?? interactive commissioning still a priority

C4: â??Weâ??ll continue to invest in gamesâ??

Channel 4 has confirmed that the recent closure of the 4IP digital investment arm will in no way impact the education department’s commissioning team, commissions, future plans or budgets.

The closure lead to a substantial restructuring at Channel 4 involving the merger of several connected divisions – including education commissioning – into the new C4 online department.

“The new online team at Channel 4 brings together all the teams developing for all platforms – including games,” said Channel 4 head of cross platform Matt Locke.

“We’ve seen through the pioneering work of C4 Education and E4.com that games help us reach new audiences, so we’ll be continuing to develop and invest in games – and new UK gaming talent – across the new C4 online department.”
