Crytek USA seeks Darksiders purchase

Crytek USA Corporation has announced its intention to bid on the Darksiders franchise.

The recently formed development studio is composed in part by ex-Vigil Games staff, including CEO David Adams, who hopes to bring the IP back home” with its creators.

"Going to bid on Darksiders IP," Adams posted on Twitter. "Put 7 years of heart and soul into that franchise, and I think it belongs at home with its creators."

Vigil co-founder Ryan Stefanelli confirmed Crytek’s intentions with Destructoid, though Crytek itself has declined to comment on the matter.

"When the Darksiders IP goes up for auction, Crytek will be bidding for it," Stefanelli said. "Not much more to say since the rest is left up to courts and legal shenanigans, but we’re all excited at the prospect."

Vigil Games closed in January when THQ was unable to find a buyer for the studio. Crytek USA Corp was created just two weeks after Vigil’s shut down, with the studio bringing on 35 former Vigil Games employees.
