Vancouver studio closes for business following project cancellations

Disney closes Propaganda Games

Disney has confirmed that it has closed Vancouver-based Propaganda Games, the studio that had been working on the halted title Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Disney also confirmed that all work on the studio’s latest project – the coolly received film tie-in Tron: Evolution – has been finished.

“The studio has completed all work associated with its most recent project,” a spokesperson said, apparently scuppering any chances for further DLC.

Work on the highly-anticipated Pirates of the Caribbean game was called-off at the studio last October, and one of the two resident development teams at Propaganda was disbanded in the process.

The short lifespan of the studio, which was formed in 2005, saw only one other game released in the 2008 reboot of Turok, which also garnered a mixed reception critically. A planned sequel was canceled after a round of layoffs in 2009.
