Disney XD greenlights video games comedy series

A new live action sitcom that taps into the world of gaming is heading to Disney XD.

Variety reports that the series, called Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything, will star Cameron Boyce from current Disney series Jessie and upcoming movie Descendants.

Boyce plays a 15 year-old who is forced to go to school for the first time after an injury forces him to abandon his eSports career. He uses the visualisation of video games, as explained in the show via special effects, as a coping mechanism for the change.

Production is due to start this spring with a view to launching in the summer.

With the popularity of video games and electronic sports, we’re thrilled to give our audience a new series that spotlights one of their biggest passions and features fan-favourite star Cameron Boyce,” Disney Channels’ executive VP Adam Bonnett said.

We are bringing the video game universe to life and giving our popular multi-camera series a fresh, new twist by integrating gaming visual effects into each episode.”
