Australian mobile game studio becomes publisherâ??s latest weapon, report claims

EA allegedly acquires mobile dev IronMonkey

EA has acquired Australian mobile game developer IronMonkey Studios, reports allege.

A story from news site Tsumea cited “reliable sources” insisting that EA has acquired the Melbourne-based outfit, though no details were reported.

Develop has approached EA for comment.

The buyout, if true, represents a further push by EA to invest in emerging game platforms in order to return the business to profitability. It has already invested at least $300 million to acquire social studio Playfish.

IronMonkey Studios has already established a partnership with EA games, having been signed to work on popular EA brands such as Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, and The Sims.
