Facebook and mobile app bring COD Elite to the masses

COD XP: Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Elite features full Facebook integration and will be accompanied at launch by a mobile app.

At the publisher’s Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles, Infinity Ward’s creative strategist Robert Bowling and Sledgehammer Games co-founder revealed that dedicated apps are currently in development for iOS and Android devices.

Not only do these allow users to view the same data as they can via the in-game and on-console versions of Call of Duty Elite, the apps will enable them to customize their multiplayer loadouts no matter where they go.

As has previously been announced, the Facebook integration allows players to invite their friends into the Call of Duty community, as well as search for groups with shared interests that they may want to join.

This will bring gamers closer to Call of Duty at any time, anywhere,” said Bowling.

Both the mobile app and Facebook integration will be included in the free version of Call of Duty Elite, which launches alongside Modern Warfare 3 this November.
